Joe Reis and I published Fundamentals of Data Engineering in the middle of 2022, but a great deal has happened in the subsequent year. In this talk, I'll share my thoughts on things that might go into a second addition of the book based on what we know now. I'll touch on generative AI, the modern data stack, streaming, a rapidly changing regulatory environment, and several other topics.
